Alice M. Weingardt Richards, 91, Indianapolis, passed away October 22, 2017. Mrs. Richards was born September 1, 1926, in Hays, Kansas, to the late Jacob and Agnes (Rohleder) Weingardt.
She graduated from Manual High School and was a proud homemaker while raising six children. She later worked at L.S. Ayres for ten years. Mrs. Richards was a charter member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church. She was an avid sports fan, always loyal to the local teams, cheering on the Pacers and Colts. She always looked forward to her annual trip to Las Vegas and could often be found working a challenging crossword puzzle. Alice will be fondly remembered by her loving family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl C. “Chet” Richards; siblings, Jake Weingardt, Willie Weingardt, Florence Ringenberger, Lillian Thompson, and Mary Lee Waymire.
Survivors include her children, Gwen (Morris) White, Gayle (Sandy Harrison) Disbro, Gloria (William) Kermeen, Daniel (Heather) Richards, Janice (Barry) White, and Janine (Andy) Axsom; one brother, Harry Weingardt; 22 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, October 26, 2017, in the Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East Street. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. in St. Barnabas Catholic Church, Friday, October 27, 2017. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
