Angela May Eckstein, 90, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 16, 2018 at Life’s Journey of Avon. Born in Indianapolis on May 17, 1928 Angela was the eldest daughter of the late Edward L. and Doloros E. (Lammers) Eckstein.
She was a 1946 graduate of Sacred Heart High School. She received her bachelor’s degree from Fontbonne College in St. Louis, Missouri and later earned her master’s degree in social work from the Indiana University School of Social Work. She was employed as a psychiatric social worker for the Larue Carter Hospital in Indianapolis for over 30 years.
Along with her parents, Angela was preceded in death by her sister, Joan Wright and her nephew, Gary D. Wright.
Survivors include her sister, Marikay (Thomas L.) Devlin of Lebanon, Indiana; six nieces and nephews, Pamela W. (Robert) Gudas, Maureen M. Devlin, Thomas (Jan) Wright, Joseph Devlin, Jeffrey (Marcy) Devlin, Edward T. (Heather) Devlin, Andrew T. (Laura) Devlin: and many great nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Angela May Eckstein from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 20, 2018 in the Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East Street (U.S. Hwy. 31). Indianapolis. Morning prayers will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2018 in the funeral home, followed by 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mark’s Catholic where Angela was a long-time member.
