Born in Germany on November 22, 1935, Bernhard (Bernie) Irmer loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away Monday, September 3, 2018 after a brave battle with cancer.
During this time his faith never wavered, and he was always more concerned about the wellbeing of those around him than of himself. He fought courageously, never complained, and never questioned. Ironically, Bernie passed away on Labor Day which exemplifies his strong work ethic and tireless efforts to take care of his family.
Bernie was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church. He served in the German Air Force and was also was an owner and operator in the construction and leasing industries for nearly 50 years.
On December 2, 1961 Bernhard was united in marriage to his wife Ilona (Balazs) Irmer; she preceded him in death.
Bernhard is survived by his daughter, Cindy (Keith) Bell; Sons Rick and Mike (Heather) Irmer; six grandchildren, Jessica, Lillian, Jacob, Madeline, Hannah, and Grace; and 5 surviving siblings residing in Germany.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Bernie’s wonderful caregivers at Choosing Home; Jen, Taylor, Kelsie, and Maggie. These fine women provided such dedicated, compassionate, and loving care that he came to consider them a part of the family.
