Cosmas A. “Big Coz” Raimondi, 71, of Greenwood, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Indiana University Health-Methodist Hospital. Born August 5, 1947 in Indianapolis, Coz was the son of the late Francis “Frank” L. Raimondi and Elsie M. (McKibben) Raimondi Jackson. On May 9,1970 he was united in marriage to Dianna K. (Arnold) Raimondi and she survives.
Coz proudly served his country in the United States Navy on the USS Caliente, a refueling ship stationed at Cameron Bay, Danang, Vietnam; he was honorably discharged in 1968. Coz continued to serve his country and community as a police officer for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department for 20 years; he retired in 1988. Following his retirement from IMPD, Coz and his wife, Dianna, owned and operated The Coin Index in Greenwood for over 22 years.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He served as past president of the Indiana Numismatic Association. Coz enjoyed playing football for the Indianapolis Police League and served as a coach for Edgewood Little League. He also enjoyed golfing, traveling, and spending time with his family.
Along with his parents, Coz is also preceded in death by his infant daughter, Katherine Anna Raimondi and two brothers, James F. Raimondi and Gerald Kidwell.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Dianna; three daughters, Doran Santacroce of Dublin, Ohio, Anna Marie (Kevin) Mundy of Terre Haute, and Lisa Anne (Walter “Chuck”) Brown of Indianapolis; special family members, Shannon Dugan of New Orleans, LA, Michelle (Andrew) Wenzel of Greenwood, and his cousin, Michael A. Raimondi of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren, Alyssa P., Calysta N. and Michael L. Santacroce, Adam J. and Wyatt G. Asbery, and Kayla N. and Benjamin G. Brown; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Coz Raimondi from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2019 in the Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East Street, Indianapolis. In honor of Coz’s service to his country and community, IMPD and the United States Navy will conduct a short service beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Morning prayers will begin at 10:15 a.m. on Friday, May 31, 2019 in the Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home followed by 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 520 Stevens Street, Indianapolis.
