Dennis Anthony Stephenson, a man of remarkable integrity, gracious generosity and unwavering love, was born on September 16, 1952, in Evansville, Indiana. He passed from this life on December 12, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loving family—his final hours a testament to the deep bonds he cultivated throughout his life.
A devoted Co-founder and President of Double D Press, Dennis embodied the spirit of entrepreneurship with a vision that inspired those around him. His career was not solely defined by professional milestones but by the warmth, kindness and giving nature he extended to colleagues and clients alike. Dennis' legacy emanates from his selflessness, characterized by a lifelong commitment to family and friends. He was a loving husband to Patricia "Patti Perfect" Ann Stephenson; his Bride, his World. Together, they created a home full of love (and organized chaos) with their six beautiful children, and an open door policy for any family and friends.
Dennis was a proud Dad to Ryan (Amanda) Stephenson, Adam (Claudia) Stephenson, Ashley (Joe) Ripperger, Kyle (Andrea) Stephenson, Britney Stephenson and Bradley (Megan) Stephenson. He loved being the provider for each of his kiddos, the beneficiary of his endless encouragement and wisdom. His dedication extended beyond his children; he embraced the role of Papaw, spoiling 16 grandchildren (Dominic, Gianna, Amaya, Callie, Ava, Emmy, Josie, Nandi, Cora, Jace, Evelyn, Fletcher, Maddie, Navy, Crew, and Beckham) with affection, creating cherished memories and a legacy that will last for generations.
Family was Dennis' everything, and he always loved gathering with his siblings telling stories of their childhood. He was not only a loving Dad and Papaw, but also a supportive brother and uncle. He shared a bond with his brothers, the late Donny (Leah), Dave (the late Debby), Danny (Jani), and his sister, Diane Stephenson-Moore (the late Greg), offering strength and laughter. Dennis’ nieces and nephews looked up to him for advice and words of wisdom which he had plenty to give. He was welcomed into Heaven with loving arms by his parents, Chester and Evelyn Stephenson.
Dennis loved being with his family and friends; golfing, especially at The Stephenson Open, grilling and sharing “World Famous” recipes, many adventurous vacations that came away with lots of good stories, attending the Indianapolis 500 Parade/Race enjoying Aunt Diane’s Fried Chicken and always sharing his love of Bourbon, Wine and whatever new gadget he found.
Dennis will forever be remembered for his ability to light up a room with his presence and command an audience with his jokes. He lived out his motto of being “kind and giving to others," a philosophy that resonated deeply with all who knew him. His ability to create lasting friendships was priceless; he embraced everyone with open arms, ensuring that "You’ve Got a Friend."
Dennis was passionate about being involved in many clubs and organizations; President of Edgewood Little League, Leukemia Society, St. Barnabas Men’s Club receiving “Man of the Year,” earned the Jefferson Award, and President/Founder of the He-Man Woman Hater’s Club…just to name a few.
The celebration of Dennis's life will be held at St. Barnabas Catholic Church in Indianapolis. Visitation will commence on December 15, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at St. Barnabas Catholic Church, 8300 Rahke Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46217.
