Edwin A. Buergler, passed away on December 27, 2024, in his lifelong home of Indianapolis, Indiana. Born on August 13, 1932, Edwin lived a life steeped in passion and dedication. He was not only a self-employed general contractor but also a devoted family man.
Edwin's journey began in the city of Indianapolis. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1960, embodying a spirit of service that defined much of his life. This commitment to his country mirrored his approach to family—steadfast, loyal, and always ready to lend a hand.
Edwin found joy in hosting gatherings for family and friends. He cherished the times spent fishing, often embarking on trips across Canada, Wisconsin, and Michigan, with the thrill of the catch never fading bringing together family and friends.
Though his hobbies were many—rooting for the Indianapolis Colts and Cincinnati Reds and enjoying bowling on the Holy Name and Sacred Heart Bowling Team—none compared to the pride he took in his family. Edwin is remembered for his unwavering love, evident in the laughter shared with his wife of 66 years, Margaret Shea Buergler, and his daughters: Christine (Tim) Heavrin, Joanne (Dan) Keyler, Alice Ragsdale, and Catherine Buergler, sister Bea Clark. His warmth also radiated through his seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, who each carry a piece of his spirit within them.
Though he is mourned by family and friends alike, Edwin’s memory is cemented in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Francis and Ida Ann Ferry Buergler, and his brothers, Lou and Joe Buergler.
