Elizabeth Ann (Jones) Van Noy, 84, Greenwood, passed away December 18, 2023. Mrs. Van Noy was born September 1, 1939, in Indianapolis, to the late Burton and Margaretha (Schoettle) Jones. She married the late Richard J. Van Noy, and he preceded her in death on April 4, 2019.
Liz graduated from the first graduating class of Scecina Memorial High School. She pursued an education and career in nursing, graduating from St. Vincent Nursing School, Marian University, and earned her MSN from Indiana University. Liz began working in 1961 as a registered nurse at the Richard Roudebush VA Medical Center. She was then employed as a registered nurse and supervisor at Community East from 1981-2001. Always a strong believer in education, Liz then taught at IUPUI from 2001 until her retirement in 2013. She was a longtime member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
She and Richard raised their family in Holy Spirit Parish on Indianapolis’ east side. In the late 1990’s they moved to Greenwood and became charter parishioners at Saints Francis and Clare of Assisi Catholic Church. Liz was an active member of her church family and was also part of the committee that made the grade school a reality. She was a proud nurse, but her family brought the most joy in her life. She simply loved being a grandma and created many memories with her grandchildren through the years. Liz enjoyed shopping and never turned down an opportunity to pause for a scoop of ice cream. Her memory will be forever cherished by a loving family and many friends.
Survivors include her children, R.J. (Lori) Van Noy, Stephanine Tatarek, and Andrew Schoettle (Stacy) Van Noy; sisters, Mary Frances (the late Ed) Doyle, Kathleen “Tyke” (the late Earl) Carter, Margie (the late Roland) Litz, and Donna Monaghan; grandchildren, Lauren Van Noy, Monica (Dominic) Henn, Colette Van Noy, Grace Tatarek, Shannon Van Noy, and Heather Van Noy.
