In Loving Memory of Emily Allison King

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Emily Allison King (82), a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and friend. Emily was born on April 22, 1941, to Myrl Runner Allison and Clarence Allison in the heart of Indianapolis, Indiana, where she spent her entire life. She departed this world on October 7, 2023, surrounded by the love of her family in the very same city she called home.

Emily's life was a testament to love, devotion, and the unbreakable bonds of family. In 1961, she embarked on a journey of everlasting love when she married Marvin L King. Their union was a testament to the enduring commitment, lasting for 44 years until Marvin's passing in 2005. Marvin was not only her husband but also the love of her life, and their love story remains an inspiration to all who knew them.

Emily leaves behind a legacy of love and a family that meant everything to her. She is survived by her cherished children: Lori King, John Bricker King, and Amy Reed (Jamey). Emily was a loving grandmother to Cody King (Alexa), Cayley King, Katey Reed, Jack Reed, William Reed, and John Bricker King Jr., and beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins showering them with affection and wisdom.

Family meant the world to Emily, and she shared an unbreakable bond with her sister, Judith Allison, who was more than a sister but a lifelong confidante and friend. Their connection was like that of twins, and Emily held her sister dearer than words can express.

Emily's zest for life was reflected in her passions and pursuits. She reveled in the company of friends and family, cherishing moments spent together. Her love for card games, especially bridge, brought joy to her life and to those who joined her at the table.

Each year, Emily looked forward to escaping the Indiana winters, embracing the snowbird life in Fort Myers Beach, Florida, alongside her cherished companions, including her sister Judy, and dear friends Jackie, and Georgeann. These treasured times provided her with endless laughter and unforgettable memories.

Emily's list of hobbies and accomplishments was vast, but above all, her greatest achievement was the love and connections she nurtured within her family and among her friends. Her radiant smile, warm embrace, and caring spirit touched the hearts of all who knew her.

A memorial gathering will be at O’Riley - Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, 6107 S. East Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 14th. A Celebration of Emily's life will follow at 3:00 p,m. A private family burial will be held at a later date.

In honor of Emily's memory, the family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the American Cancer Society. Emily faced life's challenges with resilience and grace, and supporting the fight against cancer would be a fitting tribute to her legacy.
