Gabriella Christine Whitinger-Bernal, a radiant spirit born on February 1, 2002, in the heart of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away far too soon on December 18, 2024. Her journey through life, though brief, was marked by an abundance of love and a passion for caring that enriched the lives of all who had the privilege to know her. Gabriella's legacy is one that shines brightly in the hearts of her family and friends.
A devoted nurse at Community Hospital South, Gabriella embodied kindness and compassion, traits that endeared her to both patients and co-workers alike. Across the corridors and rooms of the hospital, her gentle touch and reassuring presence provided comfort to those in need, a reflection of her kind-hearted nature.
Gabriella had a genuine heart and soul that truly touch and filled other with love and warmth, Her innocence made her life touch those around her.
Gabriella was more than just a caregiver; she was a dynamic soul with a zest for life. An animal lover, she found joy in the simplicity of companionship, nurturing, and bonding with creatures great and small. Her artistic prowess shone through her love for drawing, where she expressed the rich tapestry of her emotions and experiences. Whether it was through the laughter shared over board games or the excitement of video games played with family and friends, she relished each moment spent with loved ones, crafting memories that would last a lifetime.
A fabulous cook and an adventurous palate, Gabriella found joy in discovering new culinary delights at restaurants and local events. Her kitchen was a haven of creativity where flavors mingled with laughter, forging unforgettable gatherings around the dining table.
Educated at Southport High School and the University of Indianapolis, Gabriella embraced new life experiences with open arms, inspiring those around her with her vivacity and adventurous spirit. She was a beloved figure among children, her playful nature and infectious laughter leaving a lasting impact on their young hearts.
Gabriella is mourned deeply by her loving family. She leaves behind her devoted mother, Stacy Whitinger. Her siblings also hold her memory close as being the best big and little sister: Alexandrea Whitinger, Kaleeb Whitinger, Ian Whitinger-Bernal, and Ashton Schoen. The bond they shared was an ever-supportive testament to their connection. Grant Lundberg, her steadfast partner, her rock, the person who truly understood her and stood by her and loved her fiercely, and will carry her spirit with him always. Treasured memories remain with her grandmother Andrea Whitinger, grandfather Stephen Whitinger, uncles Mike and Craig Whitinger, aunt Angela Blue, niece and nephew Ellynor and Jasper Whitinger, and step-great-grandmother Terry Whitinger, along with the loving guidance of her godmother, Jayne Clark Myers. Gabriella is also survived by a host of family and friends, that were always a vital part of her life.
Gabriella will also be remembered alongside her grandmother Alice Wooley, great-grandfather, Donald Whitinger, and great-great-grandmother, Mildred Woodhall, cousins Stephen Whitinger III and Trent Bush, and dear friend Phyllis Ridge who have welcomed her into eternal rest.
