Gary Wayne Roessler

Gary Wayne Roessler, 68, passed away on March 15, 2022, at home in Tampa, Florida where he has lived for the past 40 years. He was born on April 20, 1953, in Beech Grove, Indiana to Kurt & Ineta (Aliff) Roessler.

He attended St. Mark Grade School, Perry East and graduated from Southport High School in 1972.
He grew up in the “Best Neighborhood” ever, Edgewood, also known as Elwood. Gary played Little League baseball, Pony League, and football. Gary, nicknamed “Bullitt”, was a Charter Member of the Elwood Boys. They played many pick-up basketball games at Edgewood School and on Sundays at the homecourt on Shelby Street. In later years, he enjoyed coming back to Indianapolis in May to attend the Indy 500 with friends. He also liked attending University of South Florida football games and was a fan of the Tampa Bay Buc’s and Tampa Bay Rays.

For 13 years, he and his life partner, Alisa Nix, held the annual Gary Nix Memorial Fishing Tournament in honor of Alisa’s son to benefit The Boy’s & Girl’s Club of Tampa.

Gary is survived by his mother, Ineta Roessler, life partner of 27 years, Alisa Nix, and her mother Paddy Moses, both of Tampa, Florida. Brother - Andrew (Diana) Roessler of Bargersville, Indiana. Sisters -Nancy (Lou) Cullom of McCordsville, Indiana; Kathy (Bob) Haycox and Karen Bloomfield both of Indianapolis, Indiana. Nieces - Holly (Brian) Pieklo of Jacksonville, Florida; Hana (Ronnie Schmoll) Roessler; Sara (Christian) Spurlock and Elly Roessler, all of Bargersville, Indiana. Nephews - Matthew Cullom of McCordsville Indiana, and Joshua (Nikki) Haycox of Madison, Indiana. Great Niece - Addison Cullom of Hope, Indiana. Great nephews - Evan & Maddox Pieklo of Jacksonville, Florida. Also, Joshua’s children Dayson and Lacie Helton of Madison, Indiana. Brothers-in-law Ty, Bentley, and Gary Moses, all of Florida. His Aliff cousins and their families. Also, his faithful canine companion Cash, fondly known as “Little Man”.

He was preceded in death by his father, Kurt Roessler, Brother Danny Roessler, Brother-In-Law David Bloomfield, and stepson Gary Nix.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 2, 2022, at St. Roch Catholic Church. 3600 S. Pennsylvania St. Indianapolis, IN 46227 from 10-12. Mass will be officiated by Father Doug A. Hunter at 12:00. Burial at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery to follow.
