James Alan Tibbs, 74, of Indianapolis, passed away at his home on Monday, July 23, 2018. Born in Indianapolis on June 26, 1944, Jim was the son of the late Roy E. and Mary C. (Wilson) Tibbs. On December 30, 1987 he was united in marriage to his loving wife, Veronica L. Tibbs and she survives.
Jim proudly served his country during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1965. He worked for Liquor Barn stores for over 20 years retiring as a store manager.
Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Willard, Robert, Kenny, John, and Roy Tibbs; his sisters, Anita Rose Woodson and Linda Kniep; his son, Johnny Tibbs; and two granddaughters, Ashely Adam and Stephanie Tibbs.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Veronica; his son, James Alan (April) Tibbs, Jr. of Indianapolis; three daughters, Cheri L. (Gilbert) Pond of Indianapolis, Angela S. (Johnny) Ransdell of Indianapolis, and Mandy S. (Matt) Ferrell of Indianapolis; his brother, Michael Tibbs of Palm Coast, Florida; 10 grandchildren, Derek, Amber, Sean, Michelle, Ryan, Jesse, Celeste, Brocc, Devin, and James; and six great grandchildren.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of James Alan Tibbs from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 29, 2018 in the Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East Street (U.S. 31 S.), Indianapolis. The funeral service will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Following cremation, burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery privately and at a later date.
