James Edward Dailey, 80, Indianapolis, 21-year veteran of the Indianapolis Police Department, passed away peacefully November 26, 2018. Mr. Dailey was born October 11, 1938, in Cincinnati, to the late Samuel Dailey and Anna (Vander) Jackson.
He also proudly served in the United States Army. Jim attended St. John and St. Luke Catholic Churches. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and enjoyed staying active by walking and visiting Eagle Creek Park. Jim will be fondly remembered by a loving family and many friends.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Schludecker, to whom he was united in marriage June 28, 2005; daughter, Jennifer (Craig) Prifogle; brother, Carly (Ruth) Dailey; sister, Naomi Trapp; grandchildren, Cody, Carson, and Camden Prifogle; a host of nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate the life of James Edward Dailey from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, December 3, 2018, in the Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East Street. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. The IMPD Plaque Ceremony will take place as visitation begins at 4 p.m. Cremation will follow services, and inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
