James “J.T.” Johnston, 92, Greenwood, passed away November 16, 2020. Mr. Johnston was born October 27, 1928, in Logansport, to the late William Edward and Marie Catherine (Welsh) Johnston. He married Mary Carolyn Fuchtman on July 25, 1953, and she survives.
He grew up in Gas City and South Bend, graduating from St. Joseph High School in South Bend. He earned his BSBA degree from the University of Notre Dame and proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. J.T. was an active member of Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a part of the Keenagers Group. He was a member of the Msgr. Bernard P. Sheridan Knights of Columbus Council and a 4th Degree member of the Bishop Chatard Assembly. He was also a member of the Franklin Elks and the Notre Dame Club of Indianapolis. He will be fondly remembered for his pleasant and gentle nature.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Mary Carolyn; children, Lucia (Larry) Begley, James (Tracy) Johnston, and Mary Jane (Dennis) Blackwell sister, Patricia Lyster; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren.
