Jerald "Jerry" E. Wyman, a beloved figure in both his community and the hearts of those who knew him, entered his heavenly home on January 19, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana, at the age of 92. Born on December 12, 1932, in Marengo, Indiana, Jerald lived a life defined by love, service, and dedication.
For over 30 years, Jerry educated and inspired countless students as a math teacher at Washington High School, where he was entrusted with leading the National Honor Society. His impact extended well beyond the classroom; he centered his life around helping others, retiring in 1992. Jerald also worked part-time and on weekends at Circle Alarm and Honeywell.
A devoted member of Fountain Square Church of Christ for more than 60 years, Jerry’s faith was a guiding light in his life. In addition to his spiritual commitments, he volunteered at St. Francis Hospital for 25 years, where he shared his warmth and kindness, bringing comfort to those in need.
Jerry's easy-going nature earned him the affection of many. Known for his patience and amiable disposition, he was a "go with the flow" guy who never let anger overshadow the simple joys of life. He celebrated the small victories with a smile, always ready to uplift those around him.
His love for sports was unmistakable, with a particular fondness for the Chicago Cubs, Indianapolis Colts, and Indiana Pacers. Whether cheering for his teams or enjoying a brisk walk on his treadmill, Jerald valued the camaraderie that sports fostered.
Jerry proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany, an experience that he regarded with great honor. Throughout his life, he remained a compassionate friend, father figure, and mentor to so many, consistently leaving a positive impression on everyone he met.
Jerry is survived by a loving community that will remember his gentle spirit and generous heart. As we reflect on his life, we are reminded of the immeasurable joy he brought to our lives. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, selflessness, and a commitment to education that will resonate for generations to come.
Jerry is survived by his children Suzy Clardy, Brett Wyman, brother Jack Wyman, sister Shirley Boldt, grandchildren Allison and Nathan Clardy, Jacob and Christian Wyman and his great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Louis and Lorraine Wyman, daughter Debra Wyman, son Kurt Wyman, brothers Charles Wyman, Marvin Wyman.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Jerry’s life on Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, with a Celebration of Life at 4:00 PM, at O’Riley – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, 6107 S. East Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227.
