Joseph E. Looney, 56, of Indianapolis, passed away from injuries sustained in an automobile accident during the early morning hours on Friday, June 22, 2018. Born in Beech Grove on July 13, 1961 Joe was the son of the late Francis E. and Julia T. (Callahan) Looney; his mother survives. On July 14, 1990, he was united in marriage to Linda L. (Cooper) Looney and she survives.
Joe was a faithful member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Beech Grove and a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Monsignor Downey Council #3660. He worked in manufacturing for Allison Transmission and was a member of the U.A.W. local union #933. Previously, he worked as a purchasing agent at Egenolf Machine in Indianapolis for several years.
Survivors include his loving wife of 27 years, Linda; his children, Wes K. (April) O’Hair of Knightstown, Anastasia “Anna” Looney of Indianapolis, and Emma C. Looney of Indianapolis; five brothers, Mark W. (Robin) Looney of New Palestine, Paul A. (Rosie) Looney of Indianapolis, John K. Looney of Indianapolis, Tom M. Looney of Houston, Texas, Steve F. (Karen) Looney of Greenwood; two sisters, Julie M. (Patrick) Bardy of Indianapolis, and Mary E. (Lantz) Turner of Fairfax Station, Virginia; and four grandchildren, Cheyenne, Makenna, Chase, and Kenton.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Joseph E. Looney from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 in the Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East Street (U.S. Hwy. 31 S.), Indianapolis. Morning prayers will begin at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at the funeral home, followed by 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Name Catholic Church.
