Karen S. Vogel

Karen S. Hamilton Vogel. 78 of Indianapolis, died Sunday morning at Columbus Regional Hospital. She was born on January 3, 1944, in Bloomington, Indiana to John and Thelma Starkey Hamilton.

Karen worked at Walgreens, retiring in 2013. She graduated from Jac Cen Del High School in Osgood, Indiana in 1961, and she attended Ball State University. She enjoyed cooking, reading, watching old movies, dogs.

Karen was very proud that she celebrated 36 years of sobriety and from those 36 years she was able to volunteer for AA central office, help in their women prison meeting and volunteer at the Johnson and Marion County Jail, helping other women to overcome addiction and be stronger.

Karen is preceded in death by her parents, husband Michael C Vogel, who she married on November 26, 1965, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church. She is survived by her beloved son Gregory Vogel.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Services entrusted to O’Riley Branson Funeral Service and Crematory, 6107 South East Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227.

Memorials in Karen’s name may be the Marion County Humane Society.
