Kathryn L. "Katie" Riedel Beavis

June 8, 1928 — March 18, 2019

Kathryn L. “Katie” Riedel Beavis, 90, of Indianapolis, passed away Monday, March 18, 2019. Katie was born in Wallins Creek, Kentucky on June 8, 1928 to the late Estel E. and Tellula (Collier) Miller. On August 20, 1949 she was united in marriage to Richard “Dick” Riedel and he preceded her in death on November 19, 1994. Later, she was united in marriage to Donald “Don” Beavis and he survives.

Katie was a loving and caring homemaker for most of her life. After her children were grown, she worked as a bookkeeper at St. Barnabas Catholic Church for several years. Katie, Dick and all of their children enjoyed camping together for many years, they were long-time members of Good Sam’s Camping Club. Katie also enjoyed volunteering with Senior Promise at Franciscan St. Francis Health.

Other survivors include her six children, Karen (Bill) Gardner of Greenwood, Nancy (Ward) Everly of Westfield, Thomas (Vicki) Riedel of Greenwood, David (Debbie) Riedel of Franklin, Richard “Rick” (Beth) Riedel, Jr. of Trafalgar, and Janice (Keith) Etter of Greenwood; her brother, Jerry Miller of Indianapolis; her sister, Susie (Bruce) Blair of Indianapolis; 12 grandchildren, Eric, Jill, Kyle, Katie, Jennifer, Matt, Andy, Keri, Zach, Amanda, Aaron, and Austin; and 13 great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her three brothers, Ray, Virgil, and Larry Miller.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Katie Riedel Beavis from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2019 in the Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East Street, Indianapolis. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 22, 2019 at St. Barnabas Catholic Church, 8300 Rahke Rd., Indianapolis. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial contribution to the American Alzheimer’s Association or the American Heart Association; envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
