Kathy Sue (Marshall) Weliever, 70, of Indianapolis passed away on December 24, 2019 at Community South Hospital surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. Kathy was born on July 1, 1949 in Indianapolis to the late Richard E. and Betty L. (Fish) Marshall. On December 22, 1974 in St. Jude Catholic Church, Kathy was united in marriage to Thomas P. Weliever who survives.
After graduating high school, Kathy attended Indiana University where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in education. Kathy taught at IPS and St. Jude schools for many years. Most recently, Kathy graduated from the Herron School of Art with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts. Out of all the work she pursued, being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother was the most important to her.
Kathy was known as a gentle and kind person with a free spirit. Being very creative, Kathy enjoyed painting and creating abstract art. Kathy loved travelling, her favorite places were anywhere from the mountains to the beach. Kathy loved her friends and enjoyed playing Scrabble, participating in a book club; reading Course in Miracles and the Way of Mastery with them. Kathy loved her grandchildren and could often be found painting with them and taking them on trips. Kathy will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends.
Along with her parents, Kathy is preceded in death by three siblings, Sherry L., Kimberly A., and Kevin J. Marshall.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Thomas P, Weliever; children, Colorado Weliever (Kyle Sherman) and Eden (Anthony) Volpp; grandchildren, Kamebry and Bridger Wagner, Skyla and Caleb Volpp, and Jackson and Emma Sherman; siblings, Richard E. (Colleen) Marshall, Jr., and Kelly J. (Tonya Schulz) Marshall; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Calling hours will be observed on Monday, December 30, 2019 from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 South East Street, Indianapolis. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations to be made to Camp Brosius; envelopes will be provided at the funeral home on Tuesday.
