Lavonnia Louise Young, 83 of Indianapolis, died peacefully on Wednesday, February 9th in her home. Bonnie was born on January 13, 1939, in Indianapolis to Cecil and Louise Taylor. In her years, Bonnie taught charm school and worked for Sears and Roebuck. Bonnie’s favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchild. When not at home you could find her at the slot machines in Las Vegas, cheering on the Indianapolis Colts, or soaking up the sun at Lake Santee.
Bonnie is survived by her children: Tim Young, Terri Matula, grandchildren: Bonnie Matula, Amanda Matula, Taylor Young-Ulery and great-grandson Zayden McCostilin. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Ronald E Young and brother Bob Carter.
Bonnie’s service will be Saturday, February 12, 2022, at 2 pm at O’Riley Branson Funeral Service and Crematory, 6107 South East Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227. There will be a showing for family and friends from 12 pm until the service time. After the service please join the family for Bonnie’s Celebration of Life at the Eagles in Beech Grove, 712 Main Street, Beech Grove, IN 46107 from 4-6PM.
In Lieu of flowers the family requested memorials in Lavonnia’s name to go to IndyHumane Downtown Clinic at 456 North Holmes Ave., Indianapolis, Indiana 46222, www.indyhumane.org.
