Marilyn Ann DuValle Robinette, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on July 29, 2024. She was surrounded by family who dearly loved her. Marilyn was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on August 31, 1935, to Gertrude Laha DuValle and Stewart DuValle. She was raised in Clarksville and graduated from Jeffersonville High School in southern Indiana. After high school, she attended Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana and graduated with a degree in education 1957. While at IU, she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority where she made many life-long friends. She began her career as a high school English teacher at Franklin Community High School in Franklin, Indiana where she taught from 1957-1959.
In 1959, Marilyn married W. Theodore (Ted) Robinette, who preceded her in death in 2017. Together they raised two sons and three daughters on the southside of Indianapolis. Marilyn and Ted cherished the life they built with their children and the close bond they shared with each other and their families.
Marilyn was a charter member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church. After she raised her five children, she completed a Master’s Degree in counseling from IU and began a second career as a school counselor at Southport Middle School, where she retired in 1999 after 18 years.
Marilyn lived vibrant life and enjoyed dressing in current trends throughout the years. Marilyn and Ted were avid IU fans, whether attending games in person or cheering from home they supported the Hoosiers through every season. They especially enjoyed visiting their granddaughter Hannah during her years at IU.
She was proud member of the Tri Kappa Sorority which conducted charitable works in the community. She valued all of her friends and enjoyed regular visits with her elementary school, high school, and college friends.
She is survived by sons Greg Robinette (Tina) and Brad Robinette, daughters Julie Mendez, Becky Reinhart (Greg), and Amy Harris (Rob), grandchildren Grace Robinette, Hannah Robinette, Andrew Robinette, Matthew Robinette, Spencer Mendez, Sofia Mendez, Morgan Lawrence, Madison White (Jacob), and Brenna Magee, and great-grandchildren Macey Jones, Elizabeth White, James White, and Jack White.
Marilyn was a dear and valued friend to so many and will be tremendously missed by her family and friends.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Barnabas Catholic Church on Saturday, August 3, 2:00 PM, located at: 8300 Rahke Road, Indianapolis, IN 46217. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., at the church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. O'Riley - Branson Funeral Service & Crematory is serving the family.
