Martin Matthews "Marty" Ehresman

May 24, 1949 — January 16, 2020

Martin Matthews “Marty” Ehresman, 70, Greenwood, passed away January 16, 2020. Marty was born May 25, 1949, in Lafayette, to the late Charles Martin and Marjorie Jane (Sniffin) Ehresman.

He earned a degree in agronomy from Purdue University and worked for a period of time as a golf course superintendent at Crooked Stick Golf Club. He then graduated from Butler University and began a 35 year career as a pharmacist. Marty worked for St. Francis Hospital and also at various retail pharmacies through the years. He enjoyed the outdoors and especially liked hiking at McCormick’s Creek State Park with his two huskies, Elsa and Kya. Marty was a talented photographer and also enjoyed listening to music.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Benjamin Ehresman.

Survivors include his son, Matthew (Summer) Ehresman of Greenwood; daughter, Meghan Ehresman of Mooresville; brother, Derik (Joella) Ehresman; sisters, Elizabeth (Brett) Eaton and Alecia (Jim) Wiltgen; granddaughters, Campbell, Kinsley, and Calise.

A gathering of family and friends to honor the life of Marty Ehresman will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2020, 4 to 6 p.m., at the O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East Street, Indianapolis. Memorial contributions may be made to Northern Lights Sled Dog Rescue or to the Franciscan Hospice House; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
