Mary Louise Callahan

Indianapolis

Mary Louise Callahan, 84, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on October 3, 2024, in Franklin, Indiana. She was born on May 16, 1940, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Charles and Frances Uehlein Koehler. She lived a life full of love, laughter, and memories, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be treasured by her family.

Mary dedicated many years to her career as a legal secretary with Eli Lilly Company. She was known for her unwavering commitment to her work and the kindness she showed to everyone around her. Beyond her profession, she had a beautiful spirit that shone through in all aspects of her life.

One of Mary’s greatest joys was her family. She took immense pride in her role as a mother to her son Edward (Kim) Callahan and was an adoring grandmother to her granddaughters Christeen and Claire Callahan. Her heart swelled with happiness as a great-grandmother to James, Janelle, Gabriella, Justice, Daniel, Andrew, and Leo, who lightened her days with their laughter and love. Mary was one of 11 children, her surviving siblings are Helen Ann Martin, Evelyn Thompson, Martha Wright, Susie Koehler, and Paul Koehler. Her enthusiasm for life was infectious, and her legacy will carry on through her beloved family.

Mary's passions reached far beyond her family. She was a talented nightclub singer where she serenaded audiences with Irish songs and the timeless melodies of Patsy Cline. She found joy in gardening, cooking the best-fried chicken, and indulging in shopping trips with her granddaughters, including delightful excursions to Michael's and Hobby Lobby. These moments illuminated her life and showcased her loving personality and great sense of humor.

Mary’s deep love for the arts led her to enjoy outings to operas and musicals with her family, experiences that she not only cherished but also shared with an open heart. Her zest for life made every gathering brighter, and her tradition of capturing memories through photography during family events ensured that no joyful moment went unnoticed.

Mary is now reunited with her late husband, Glenn Beasley, and her son Daniel Callahan, along with her grandson Jimmy Callahan, and siblings Joe, Mike, Maggie, Johnny Koehler and Ann Knotts. Her beloved four-legged children Molly, Bailey, Haily, Susie, and Coco. Although their absence leaves a profound void, her family takes comfort in the rich memories they shared.
