Mary Elizabeth Weber

August 2, 1929 — February 11, 2021

Mary Elizabeth Weber, 91, passed peacefully with family members by her side on February 11, 2021.

Mary was the only daughter, and the first of five children born to the late William Francis Waddick and Mary (Dolan) Waddick. She was born on August, 2, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois and resided there until relocating to Indianapolis, Indiana when she was ten years of age.

Mary graduated from Saint Agnes Academy in Indianapolis and was offered a full academic scholarship to Marian College. She had other plans though, and married Joseph James Weber and began raising a family.

A loving mother and grandmother, Mary valued her Irish heritage and family always came first for her. Regardless, she still managed to find time to sell real estate, and worked as a billing clerk at Interstate Warehouse for many, many years finally “retiring” at the age of 78.

Mary loved to travel, with Ireland (of course) and San Francisco being two of her favorites. She remained an avid reader, loved flowers, birds, working in her yard, bowling (with many years spent on the Sport Bowling Women’s League), and watching golf. Though she would have preferred to be playing herself and at the age of 90 often threatened to get some clubs of her own. She was also a talented seamstress who loved sewing and doing arts and crafts.

Mary is being welcomed by her parents; her brother, William and his wife Claire; her daughter-in-law, Mary; and two cherished grandchildren, Alec Curtis and Evan Weber.

She is survived by her siblings: Thomas (Vernice), Daniel (Blair), and James (the late Barbara); her eight children: Joseph (Anne), Kathleen Hatfield, Christine Sigler, James, Mary Beth Bryant (Dennis), Eileen Shumway (David), William (Sherry), and Jeanine; her eighteen grandchildren, and twenty-three great-grandchildren.

A private memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2021, 1 p.m., at O’Riley Funeral Home. Those wishing to livestream the service are invited to visit the O'Riley YouTube channel by visiting www.ORileyFuneralHome.com.
