Michael J. “Digger” Ott, 67, of Indianapolis, passed away Friday, June 1, 2018 at Franciscan St. Francis Hospice House in Indianapolis. Born in Indianapolis of February 21, 1951, Mike was the son of the late James F. and Julia J. (Waddell) Ott. On December 7, 1973 Mike was united in marriage to his loving wife, Doris K. (Schrader) Ott and she survives.
Mike followed in his father’s footsteps when he started working for the Wilbert Burial Vault Company in Indianapolis, where he moved up the ranks to general manager; “Digger” was happily employed there for 43 years. A true “gear head,” Mike was a street rod and Harley Davidson enthusiast. He was a former member of the Southside Corvette Club, the Morgan County Rods and Rides until it disbanded, A.B.A.T.E., and The H.O.G. (Harley Owners Group).
Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Doris; his siblings, James L. (Judy) Ott of New Palestine, Gloria J. Hollenbaugh of Indianapolis, Robin s. Kekar of Indianapolis, and Jason D. Ott of Indianapolis; and his mother-in-law, Patricia A. Schrader.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Mike Ott from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 4, 2018 in the Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East Street (U.S. 31 S.), Indianapolis. The funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at the funeral home with additional calling from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
