Michael Thomas Bayt

Michael T. Bayt, 53, of Indianapolis, passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at his home. Born October 5, 1965, Michael was the youngest child of Santa (Constantino) and Henry R. Bayt; both of whom loved and cared for him until they preceded him in death.

Michael was a graduate of Emmerich Manual High School and proudly worked at the Indiana Roof Ballroom, Amici’s Restaurant and The Brasserie Restaurant. A devout Catholic, he was a faithful member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, where he served as an usher.

Survivors include his brothers and sisters, Phillip L. Bayt (Bonnie Gallivan), Demetrio Bayt (Terri), Tony Bayt, Jack Bayt (Rosemarie), Antonia Zunarelli (Roberto), Hank Bayt, Mary Bayt, Mary Anne Hawkins (Tom Sarfaty), Toni Short (Frank), Theresa Mascari (Mike), Concetta DeFabis (Philip), Jack Hawkins (Angie), Hazel Lorah, Betty McColgan (Gary), and Gina Battiston (John). Mike is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Catherine Judson (Will), AJ Bayt, Paul and Deme Bayt, Gina Glas (Grant), Lucia and Jack Bayt, Julian and Nadia Zunarelli, Carmela Verderame, Nick (Chelsea), Antonia and Concetta Mascari, Tom Short (Andrea), Concetta, Christina and Luke Lorah, Jack Hawkins Jr., Lauren McColgan, Gabriella, Isabella and Zach Battiston and six great nieces and nephews, Gianna, Isabella and Luca Mascari, Madeleine and Griffin Glas and Sebastian Lorah.

Michael was always an integral part of the family's social gatherings. He enjoyed singing and dancing with and for the family, especially to the Beach Boys and rock classics. He loved to have fun with family members both in Indy and in his favorite places, Vegas, LA and Naples, which he visited often.

He was a devoted fan of the Chicago Bears, the WWE and all teams Los Angeles. He wore his team logos with pride and hung on every play.

He wasn't just a spectator, but participated every year in the Italian Open Golf Tournament, once sinking a putt to win the Open for his team.

Mike loved his daily rituals and they were a part of the fabric of his life. Sales of lottery scratch offs, Pepsi and lemon meringue pie may never recover.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 520 Stevens Street, Indianapolis. Visitation will be at the Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East Street, Indianapolis on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with recitation of the Rosary beginning at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Prior to Mass, morning prayers will begin at 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. A burial service will follow the Mass at the Chapel at Calvary Cemetery at 435 West Troy Avenue.
