Mildred E. Clark, a cherished matriarch and beloved member of the community, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2024, in Franklin, Indiana. She was born on March 13, 1931, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Albert & Irene Martin. Mildred lived a life rich with love, laughter, and unwavering faith.
A devoted stay-at-home mother, Mildred dedicated herself to her family, embracing every precious moment spent with her children She ensured that summer vacations were a staple in their lives, nurturing not only a sense of adventure but also a bond of fond memories that would carry through generations. Her devotion extended beyond the role of a mother; she was affectionately known as "Grandma" and "Grandma Midge," roles she relished with vibrant enthusiasm. She was an avid sports fan and loved I-U Basketball & The Cincinnati Reds.
Mildred’s career was marked by a brief but meaningful tenure in the accounting department at Koch News, yet it was her commitment to her family that defined her life's work. For over 65 years, she was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church where her faith flourished, shaping her character and guiding her interactions. Her strong belief system was matched only by her vivacious spirit—a delightful combination that endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
As a testament to her talents, Mildred was not only an avid bowler in her youth but also a passionate participant in her Bridge Club for over 40 years. Her affinity for dogs showcased her nurturing nature, while her daily ritual of completing the newspaper crossword puzzle and her love for jigsaw puzzles were a reflection of her keen mind and spirited curiosity.
Mildred’s humor was legendary; her jokes and infectious laughter brought joy to countless gatherings, leaving an imprint of warmth and happiness wherever she went. She possessed a unique ability to light up a room, nurturing friendships and community ties with her caring disposition.
Mildred is survived by her loving children; Bruce (Cindi) Clark, Keith Clark, and Carol (Matt) Flynn, grandchildren; Katie (Matt) Clark, Chad Clark, Chase Clark, Leslie Flynn, and John (Nicole) Flynn, great-grandchildren; Payton & Rory Flynn, and Caleb Mushinski, along with her niece; Donna Tunin.
Mildred is preceded in death by her sister; Dolores Tunin.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Calvary Lutheran Church (6111 Shelby Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227) from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Service in the church at 12:00PM. Burial will ensue at Concordia Cemetery, 2703 S Meridian St, Indianapolis, Indiana.
