Nancy Sue (Weber) Gholson, 71, of New Palestine, passed away at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis on October 30, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. The eldest of five children, Nancy was born on June 15, 1950 to the late Harry J. and Ruth (Weber) Weber in Indianapolis.
Nancy attended St. Mark and St. Barnabas elementary schools in Indianapolis. She graduated from Southport High School in the class of 1968. Following her graduation, she went on to attend Indiana Business college, graduating in 1969. It was following her graduation that she went on to be employed with Riley Industries which eventually became Vertellus Specialties. Nancy retired in 2019 after 50 years of dedicated service as the assistant credit manager.
Outside of work, Nancy was incredibly devoted to her family and spending time with them. She never missed a sporting event of either of her two sons, Michael and Ryan, when they were growing up. This dedication to her family continued with her sweet granddaughter, Arabella. She adored all her nieces and nephews also. Keeping up with what was going on within the family was one of the many roles Nancy assumed- if you had a question about someone or something, Nancy likely had the answer.
Nancy enjoyed traveling and going on cruises. She specifically loved going anywhere that had a beach and sunshine; her favorite destination being Destin, Florida. If the sun was out, you could find her at the local swimming pool soaking up the rays. She loved to bask in the sunshine. Whether at the beach on vacation or in line at the grocery store, Nancy had no issue in befriending strangers. She was extremely sweet and sociable; people were simply drawn to her. If not on the beach or at the pool, you could find Nancy reading a book, going to craft fairs, or cheering on her favorite football teams. Nancy was a passionate Indianapolis Colts and Notre Dame football fan. She loved gathering with her neighbors, having pitch-ins, and watching the game together. Beyond football games, Nancy enjoyed listening to The Beatles or going to the movie theater to watch a good movie. She was the first to be able to tell you whether a movie was worth going to the theater for or not.
With raising two sons by herself and being the oldest sibling, Nancy was a natural born leader. She was very meticulous and decisive. Her sense of always being prepared and ready to take on any task were tremendously admirable traits that made her an inspiration to all who loved her. Her smile, leadership within her family, and sense of humor are just a few of the many wonderful things about Nancy that will be missed by those she leaves behind.
Survivors include her sons, Michael (Shanda) Gholson and Ryan Gholson; her granddaughter, Arabella; her siblings, Anne (Danny) Graham, Kathy (David) Brodhacker, David (Kimberly) Weber, and Thomas (Laura) Weber; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
