Nina C. Cotter

Nina C. Cotter, 76, of Indianapolis, passed away on September 26, 2024. She was born on January 20, 1948, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late John & Sarah Calder. Nina was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend whose warm spirit touched the lives of all who knew her.

Nina's journey began in Louisville, where she cherished her upbringing surrounded by her loving parents and two sisters. Growing up, she created lasting memories at her Uncle Henry's farm, cultivating a deep love for animals and nature that would stay with her throughout her life. These formative years instilled in her a sense of connection to family and community that would define her later pursuits.

After her academic achievements at Eastern Kentucky University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in accounting, Nina embarked on a fulfilling career with AT&T. Yet, her professional endeavors never eclipsed her devotion to her family. Following her move to Indiana, Nina poured her heart into raising her children and found joy in their laughter and triumphs. Her world revolved around them, and she was always the first to celebrate their achievements, no matter how big or small.

Nina had an exceptional talent for creating beautiful, memorable meals that brought friends and family together. Known for her cooking and baking, she mastered the art of extravagant meals that would leave everyone satisfied and smiling. Among her proudest accomplishments was the special bond she shared with her granddaughter, Bella, spending countless hours baking cookies, cupcakes, and delightful treats together. Those moments in the kitchen were filled with laughter and the sweet aroma of love.

Outwardly, Nina radiated warmth and kindness; she never met a stranger, and her genuine interest in others made everyone feel welcome. Nina lit up with enthusiasm when cheering for her beloved Kentucky Wildcats Basketball team or watching the Kentucky Derby, reveling in every moment of these cherished traditions.

Nina is survived by her loving children; Joseph Cotter and Stephanie Cotter, granddaughter; Isabella Cotter, and sister; Judy (Paul) Hilderbrand.

Nina is preceded in death by her sister; Connie Calder.

Her legacy lives on through the love she shared, the memories she created, and the countless lives she touched. Nina C. Cotter’s zest for life, spirit of giving, and unwavering love for her family will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate a life well-lived, a heart full of generosity, and a woman who epitomized the essence of family and friendship.
