Oscar G. Ritchie, Sr., 74, Indianapolis, passed away August 28, 2017. Mr. Ritchie was born February 5, 1943, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Oscar and Margaret (Mills) Ritchie.
Oscar ran a laundry route for 38 years, starting with Mechanics Laundry and retiring from Cintas in 2010. He proudly served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1964. Oscar will be remembered for his kindness and generosity. Above all, Oscar was a proud family man who loved to spend time with his loved ones. He will be fondly remembered by his loving family and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Sonny.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Verna May (Morris) Ritchie; children, Oscar G. (Cindy) Ritchie, Jr., Margaret (Tony E. Sr.) Curtis, Larry (Tammy) Brown, and Benjamin Ritchie; eight grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; brothers, Johnny, Joseph, and LeRoy; sisters, Josephine, Rosella, Ellen, Joyce, and Ann.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 31,2017, 4 to 8 p.m., in the Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East Street. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Friday, September 1, 2017, in The Bible Church, 6555 E. Payne Road, Indianapolis. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
