Philip Douglas McQuade

November 14, 1926 — August 28, 2016

Philip Douglas McQuade, 89, of Indianapolis, passed away at Arlington Place on August 28, 2016. Beloved husband of Janet S; loving father of Brooke (Anders), Sydney, Alexandra (William) and Paula (Scott); beloved grandfather of Gabriel, Quinn, Philip, Zachary, Austin, Anna, Georgia and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Jessie McQuade; and brothers, Paul, Max and Jerry. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1944 and attended Union College in Schenectady, New York where he was a star pitcher. Philip graduated from Union in 1950 and spent the next 35 years at RCA where he was manager of Employee Relations, retiring in 1986. Philip and his wife Janet moved to Shaftsbury, Vermont where he was an active member of the Shaftsbury Historical Society and St. James Episcopal Church prior to moving back to Indianapolis in 2011. He cherished his time in the outdoors and particularly enjoyed following the New York Yankees. Philip had a loving heart and was loved by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed. Visitation will be Saturday, September 10, 2016 from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. at the Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East Street, Indianapolis. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Indianapolis. Online condolences may be shared with the family at orileyfuneralhome.com.
