Richard A. Blaylock, 83, of Indianapolis, passed away on November 7, 2023. Richard was born to the late Pleasant & Maydalen Blaylock on March 29, 1940, in Indianapolis. Richard attended Southport High School and a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He spent most of his career as an autobody mechanic. Richard met the love of his life, Shirley (Palmer) Blaylock in 1958, at the local “Root Beer” Stand and they married on January 25, 1963. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. He was a member of Logan Lodge # 575 since 1980 and was Master of Lodge # 575 in 1984. Richard loved to be with his family and adored his daughters and grandchildren. Richard was kind, loving and giving. He would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He was artistic and loved to draw and make jewelry. His main goal was always to take care of his family the very best he could.
Richard is survived by his loving wife; Shirley Blaylock, daughters; Lisa (John) Grismore and Sherrell Maddux, grandchildren; Brittany Grismore, Nathan (Reema) Blaylock, Casabree (Richard) Etter and Stevie (Justin) Maddux, along with numerous great-grandchildren, sisters; Mary Fortner, Ida (Junis) Ingle and Barbara Reimer and sister-in-law; Patty Wollsifer.
Richard is preceded in death by his brothers; John Blaylock and Lester Blaylock, and grandson; John Grismore Jr.
Richard’s Life Celebration® gathering will be Wednesday, November 15, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at O’Riley – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, 6107 S. East Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227. There are no formal services scheduled.
