Richard H. Kass

Richard H. Kass, 64, Greenwood, passed away August 1, 2018, surrounded by his loved ones. Rick was born August 23, 1953, in Dubuque, Iowa, to the late Clem and Ruth (Ament) Kass.

He graduated from Beckman High School in Dyersville, Iowa. He was employed in the insurance industry in claims for more than thirty years, retiring from Liberty Mutual. Rick was a member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church. An avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes fan, he also enjoyed gardening and baking. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who will be fondly remembered by his loving family.

Survivors include his wife, Jean (Showalter) Kass, to whom he was united in marriage February 1, 1980; daughters, Laura (Ben) Underwood and Michelle Kass, both of Indianapolis; sister, Judy (Jim) Gobeli of Lynxville, Wisconsin; granddaughters, Lila and Amelia Underwood; many Showalter relatives including in-laws and a host of nieces and nephews.

The Kass Family is extremely grateful to IU Hospice for their extraordinary care.

Friends and family will gather Sunday, August 5, 2018, 2 to 6 p.m., in the Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East Street, Indianapolis. Morning prayers will be said at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 6, 2018, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., in St. Barnabas Catholic Church.
