Richardson "Dick" B. Shanley, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on June 5, 2024, in Greenwood, Indiana. His legacy extends beyond his time here on earth, leaving behind a trail of cherished memories and a life well-lived.
Born on December 14, 1934, in Ashland, Kentucky, Dick went on to serve his country proudly in the U.S. Army before embarking on a fulfilling career spanning 33 years in the parts and service division with Ford Motor Company. He was known for dedication and hard work in everything he pursued.
Dick's passion for learning led him to Ohio University where he honed his skills and knowledge. Beyond his professional achievements, he found joy in simple pleasures like taking naps and spending quality time with his loved ones.
Among his hobbies and interests, Dick was an avid golfer and a proud member of the "Good Ole' Boys" Golf League. He also enjoyed engaging in friendly games of bridge, euchre, and bowling. Sports held a special place in his heart, always cheering on his favorite teams with enthusiasm.
One of Dick's proudest accomplishments was being a season ticket holder for the Indianapolis Colts since 1984. His loyalty and unwavering support for his team reflected his commitment to the things he cherished in life.
Dick is preceded in death by his parents Emmett and Helen (Richardson) Shanley. He is survived by his loving wife Carole (Baron) Shanley, sons Michael (Jill), Scott (Terry), Rick (Alli) Shanley, sister Sue Parsons, as well as 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
The services to honor Dick's life will take place at O’Riley - Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, 6107 S. East Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227 on Friday, June 14, 2024, with visitation from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM, followed by a Mass at St. Mark Catholic Church, 535 Edgewood Ave., Indianapolis, Indiana 46227 at 11:00 AM.
In memory of Dick, memorials may be made to St. Mark Catholic Church.
