Robert A. Reimer

Robert A. Reimer, 97, lifelong resident of Indianapolis, passed away April 27, 2021. Mr. Reimer was born October 9, 1923, to the late Harry and Lena (Schmidt) Reimer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of more than 70 years, Eleanor (Richardson) Reimer and a brother, Harry Reimer.

He graduated from Arsenal Technical High School and proudly served in the Army Air Corp as a bombardier navigation instructor during World War II. A professional tool & die maker, Mr. Reimer worked for Hittle Machine & Tool prior to purchasing the company that he owned and operated with his wife for 35 years; he retired in 2010. He held various leadership positions at the state and national levels in the National Tooling & Machining Association. He was a charter member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3660. An avid sports fan, he was a season ticket holder for the Colts and Pacers for many years. He and Eleanor also enjoyed traveling, including routine trips to Naples, Florida. Above all, Bob was strongly devoted to his family – he loved watching the family grow to include grandchildren and great grandchildren, including one that will arrive any day.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathleen (the late Gary) Shank and Barbara (the late David) Glanz; grandchildren, Jeff Glanz, Tony (Jill) Glanz, Tim (Denise) Shank, Doug (Danielle) Shank, Molly (Navid) Hojatti; great grandchildren, Olivia and Jackson Glanz, Max and Emerson Shank.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 4, 2021, 5 to 7 p.m. and Wednesday, May 5, 2021, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m., at the O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East Street. Prayers will begin at 11:30 Wednesday, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon in St. Barnabas Catholic Church. Entombment will be at the Calvary Mausoleum.
