Robert W. Allen, a beloved father, grandfather, and dedicated community member, passed away on December 16, 2024, in his hometown of Indianapolis, Indiana. Born on July 2, 1949, in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late James & Ruth Allen. Robert lived a life filled with passion, kindness, and unyielding dedication to his family and work.
From a young age, Robert demonstrated an unparalleled work ethic, becoming self-employed in the construction field where he spent most of his career. His ability to fix just about anything was not just a testament to his skills but also reflected his love for the trade. Each day on the job brought him joy, and he approached his work with a sense of purpose that inspired those around him.
Robert was not only a craftsman by trade but also a devoted father to his "Hunny," Alicia, and he adored his only grandson, Prince, cherishing every moment they shared. His generous spirit was evident in all he did; he embraced opportunities to "pay it forward," reflecting a heart that truly cared for others. Through his actions, Robert taught his family and friends the importance of kindness and generosity.
A true sentimentalist, Robert found beauty in family heirlooms, proudly displaying them in his home as cherished reminders of the love and history they represented. His warmth extended beyond material possessions; it was embedded in the very fabric of his interactions with others. Known for his gentle demeanor and heart of gold, he left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Robert's love for food was legendary. As a self-proclaimed "Foodie," he delighted in trying new restaurants and cuisines, and his zest for life was often reflected in his culinary adventures. Beyond the dining experience, he found true peace and tranquility in nature, particularly during his time spent in the Florida Everglades, where the beauty of the landscape resonated deeply with him.
Robert was also a proud United States Marine Veteran who served in the Vietnam War, carrying this honor with the utmost pride throughout his life. His steadfast faith was apparent in his commitment to The Bible Church of Indianapolis, where he was a member for over 40 years, demonstrating unwavering belief and dedication.
Robert is survived by his daughter; Alicia Abreu, grandson; Prince Abreu-Allen, and sisters; Katherine Molberg, Sandra Breedlove, and Patricia McCartney.
Robert is preceded in death by his wife of 25 years; Linda V. Allen.
