Robert "Gene" Cory

Robert Eugene Cory, 65,  loving Uncle and devoted brother, passed away shortly after speaking to his sister on July 17th.  Bob (to his friends) or Gene as he was referred to by his family, proudly served in the US army and after his retirement became a skilled carpenter.  Gene loved his family and was never too busy to babysit with his grand nieces and nephews, or too busy for an impromptu family reunion.  

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Barbara Cory. Gene is survived by his two children Amanda and Andrew; his brothers Larry, Tony, Patrick, Tom, his sister Lynn, his sister in law Dana, brother in law Todd, 6 nieces, and nephews, and 12 Grand nieces and nephews.  

He lived his life as a fiercely independent man, never wanting to be dependent on anyone. This is much like his mother and sent him on a path that was unique to only him. He was loved  by all of his family. He will be missed greatly. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for the donation be made in Gene’s name to the American Alzheimer’s Association.  We love you Gene and will, miss you more than you know. 

A Celebration of Gene's Life will take place Saturday, September 30, 2023, 2 p.m., at the home of Tony Cory, 934 Fry Road, Greenwood, IN.
