Robert E. Miles

Robert (Bob) Miles passed away at his home in Myrtle Beach, SC on Wednesday July 11, 2018, at the age of 72. Bob was born in Springfield Illinois on May 18, 1946 to Dorothy Miles Rigney and Floyd Miles. Bob’s family includes his wife: Velma Miles, three daughters: Bobbie Upcroft (Craig Upcroft), Tammy Miles, and Monika Miles (Phillip Ambrose), two grandsons: Michael Upcroft and Jason Upcroft, and his sister: Janice Bishop (Bill Bishop).

Bob spent his adult life in Indiana, Kentucky, and South Carolina. He was a tool and die maker at Union Carbide (Speedway, Indiana) and Budd Company/Martinrea (Shelbyville, Kentucky). During his time at Budd Company/ Martinrea, he acted as Treasurer for the local United Auto Workers (UAW) union. He retired from Martinrea and relocated to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in 2008.

Bob enjoyed reading his favorite author, Lee Childs. He enjoyed the outdoors and motorcycle riding, and was a member of the Moose Riders in Surfside Beach Moose Lodge; often riding for charitable causes. Bob served his local community through regularly donating blood to his local blood bank.

Bob always had a smile on his face and knew no strangers. He had a kind heart and loved his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

His family will be hosting a Celebration of Life on Saturday, August 11, 2018 in the Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 South East Street, Indianapolis.
