Robert E. Plahitko, 84, of Indianapolis, passed away at Franciscan Health Hospital in Indianapolis on November 21, 2018. Robert was born to the late John and Mary (Potiseck) Plahitko in Madison, Pennsylvania on February 7, 1934.
After high school, Robert went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Air Force as an air craft mechanic for four years. Upon leaving the Air Force, Robert took up being a diesel mechanic for multiple trucking companies throughout his career including Ellis Trucking Company, Navajo Trucking Company, and ABF Trucking Company. Robert was a member of the Teamsters Local Union #135. Robert had a true passion for restoring old vehicles, his most recent being a 1932 Ford Rat Rod.
Robert is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Wanda L. (McAndrews) Pahlitko on October 6, 2005, as well as two siblings, John and Dorothy.
Survivors include his children; Thomas R. Plahitko, Michael S. Plahitko, David L. Plahitko, Jody L. Akers, and Robert E. Plahitko; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and two siblings, Jim Plahitko and Ellie Calvert.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate Robert’s life on Monday, November 26, 2018 at the Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 South East Street, Indianapolis from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt.
