Sandra A. “Sandy” Maners, 71, Indianapolis, passed away January 31, 2019, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Sandy was born November 6, 1947, in Anderson, to the late George Matthew and Mary Margaret (Day) McMahon.
She graduated from Anderson High School and Ball State University, where she earned a degree in nursing. She enjoyed a career as a registered nurse, working at Urology of Indiana for 18 years. Sandy was also an active volunteer with the Gabriel Project and a devout member of Saints Francis and Clare Catholic Church. Above all, she was a loving mother and an incredible grandmother to her three grandsons.
Sandy’s survivors include her daughter, Shannon (Matt) Curnutt; brother, Jim (Jackie) McMahon; grandsons, Brady, Asher, and Finn Curnutt; niece, Commander Kathryn (Joel) McMahon-Hermsdorfer; nephew, Matthew (Mary) McMahon; cousins, Peg Watson and Pam Lanane.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate the life of Sandy Maners on Monday, February 4, 2019, 4 to 8 p.m., at the Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East Street, Indianapolis. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 5, 2019, in SS. Francis & Clare Catholic Church, 5901 W. Olive Branch Road, Greenwood. Memorial contributions may be made to the School Ministry at Saints Francis and Clare or to the Gabriel Project.
