Sandra U. Ray

Sandra U. Shaw Ray, of Indianapolis, passed away on February 24, 2024, after a very sudden decline in her health.  Her loss was unexpected to her family and friends who were profoundly saddened.  Sandy was 89 years old.  

Sandy was born on September 11, 1934, to Harold and Elizabeth Shaw, She was one of three children, brothers William Shaw and Bradley Shaw.

Sandy married Marvin G. Ray in October 1953.  They had two children Vickie Ray and Jeffrey Ray.

Sandy is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, and brothers.  She leaves her legacy to her son Jeff Ray and grandson Alexander Ray.

In 1970 Sandy and Marvin opened, owned, and operated Ray’s IGA Food Market at 8011 South Meridian Street, where the whole family worked together.

She loved to travel and enjoyed having lunch with friends and shopping.  Her favorite moments were times she got to spend with her grandson Alexander.

Sandy will be remembered for all the love she shared with her friends and family.

A Memorial Gathering will take place on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 from 3 - 8pm at O'Riley-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, 6107 S East St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46227.
