Sarah C. Clements

Sarah C. (DeLuca) Clements, 97, Indianapolis, passed away May 5, 2017. Mrs. Clements was born May 22, 1919, in Indianapolis, to the late Simone “Sam” and Josephine “Josie” (Gioa) DeLuca.

She worked in the retail grocery business for many years. She was a longtime member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church and most recently was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church. She was also a former member of the Beech Grove VFW Post 5626 Ladies’ Auxiliary.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her husband, William C. Clements and six siblings.

Survivors include her children, William C. (Doris) Clements, Jr., Shirley A. (Marty) Newman, Michael J. (Jyrgal) Clements, Mary E. (Larry) Fortress, and Joseph A. (Julie) Clements; brother, Joseph DeLuca; 19 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, 4 to 8 p.m., in the Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East St. (US Hwy. 31 South), where morning prayers will be said on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Wednesday, in St. Mark Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
