Sharon E. Mathauer

August 26, 1944 — February 16, 2025

Franklin

Sharon E. Mathauer, a beloved wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and adoring great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2025, at the age of 80.

Born on August 26, 1944, in Beech Grove, Indiana, to the late Albert and Edna Hofmann, Sharon filled her life with love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her family. Truly, she was the heart of our home, radiating warmth and joy to all who encountered her.

On September 27, Sharon married the love of her life, David Mathauer. Together, they built a beautiful life, filled with laughter, love, and treasured memories. Their bond was a testament to the strength of love, and Sharon's greatest joy was her family. With immense pride, she nurtured her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, each of whom she loved unconditionally, leaving a legacy of sweet moments that will be cherished forever.

Sharon is survived by her daughter; Paige (Ross) Johnson, her grandchildren; Erika Johnson and Nicholas (Cassie) Johnson, her great-grandchildren; Addyson and Cason, and brother; James Hofmann.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband; David Mathauer, and her dear son; Christopher Mathauer, brothers; Robert, Jack, and Richard Hofmann, and sister; Shirly Blevins.

A woman of great strength and compassion, Sharon’s generous spirit and gentle heart made everyone feel special. She was always ready with a kind word and a helping hand, embodying kindness in its purest form. Her passion for life extended to cherished pursuits as well; she found joy in visiting Brown County State Park with  her late husband, David, exploring antique malls, and "thrifting," sharing stories about her beloved kitties whom she adored.

As we say goodbye to this remarkable woman who graced our lives with her presence, we are reminded of the countless ways she touched all those around her. Her legacy of love and kindness will surely continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A visitation will be held in her honor on February 21, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, located at 114 Lancelot Drive, Franklin, IN 46131, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Indianapolis.
