Thomas DeWald Conley

Thomas DeWald Conley, age 72 of Indianapolis passed away peacefully at home the morning of Wednesday, August 28, 2024. He was born March 7, 1952, in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late John William Conley II and Geraldine (DeWald) Conley.

Tom played many sports throughout his youth and was a graduate of Rushville High School and Ball State University. He enjoyed a 44-year career in public service, working in the State Legislative Branch and as the Tax Policy Administrator for the Indiana Department of Revenue. He loved his extended family dearly and was an avid Butler Basketball fan. Tom enjoyed spending as much time as possible in the Florida Keys and on the golf course – where he was always the only one able to keep score!

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Catherine “Cathy” (Williams) Henninger of Indianapolis; daughter, Alyssa (Corey) James of Carmel; stepson, Jonathan Henninger of New Albany; brother, John (Cheryl, dec.) Conley III of Howe; sisters, Karen Conley of Jasonville, Jean (Denny) Byrne of Aurora, Ohio, and Mary Nell Conley of Marathon, Florida; and four grandchildren of Carmel, Vera James, Nolan James, Owen James, and Miles James. He is also survived by nieces, Beth Patch, Lynn (Doug) LaCluyse, and Emily Okerson; nephews, Kevin Byrne, Geoff Byrne, Andrew Byrne, Michael Okerson, Patrick Luttrell, Joey Luttrell; and numerous great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, and great-great nephews.

Visitation will be held at St. Roch Catholic Church in Indianapolis on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am followed by Mass at St. Roch Catholic Church at 11:00 am.

Tom's inurnment will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Indianapolis, Indiana, at a later date.
