Thomas R. Utterback, 71, of Indianapolis, passed away Monday, June 18, 2018. Born in Washington, Indiana on October 8, 1946 Tom was the son of the late Ralph E. and Rita L. (Doyle) Utterback. On February 13, 2003 Tom was united in marriage to his loving wife, Meghan C. Utterback and she survives.
Tom was a graduate of Scecina High School and attended Indiana University. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was a member of the V.F.W. Post #6978 in Whiteland, Indiana and the American Legion Post #355, Indianapolis. He worked as a manufacturing sales rep. for EPCO in Indianapolis for 25 years; he retired in 2012. Tom was a faithful member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church. During his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, golfing and spending precious time with his grandchildren.
Along with his parents, Tom is preceded in death by his son, Ryan J. Utterback; his sister, Teresa Utterback; his brother, Tim Utterback; and his brother-in-law, Larry Dougherty.
Survivors include his loving wife, Meghan; his son, Joseph P. (Michal) Utterback of Ft. Wayne; his daughter-in-law, Kerri Utterback of Winslow, Indiana; two step-sons, A.J. (Sarah) Platt of Peoria, Illinois, and Nicholas Hubbard of Seattle, Washington; his brother, William (Tammie) Utterback of Indianapolis; his two sisters, Sharon (Paul) Jefry of Indianapolis and Susan Dougherty of Indianapolis; his mother-in-law, Colleen Madix of Lantana, Florida; three brothers-in-law, Sean (Gidget) Madix of Elmhurst, Illinois, Kerry (Stacey) Madix of Champaign, Illinois, and Michael (Kim) Madix of Kapolei, Hawaii; three sisters-in-law, Shannon (Nelson) Madix-Combs of Greenwood, Brenda Lalande of Bradenton, Florida, and Katie (Jason) Davis of Boca Raton, Florida; five grandchildren, Zach, Gabe, Lars, Lily, and Rowen Utterback; three step grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Tom Utterback from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 22, 2018 in the Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East Street (U.S. Hwy. 31 S.), Indianapolis. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at St. Barnabas Catholic Church.
