Veronica "Vickie" Huck

Veronica "Vickie" Huck, 76, of Indianapolis, a beloved mother figure, amazing aunt, devoted sister, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at home on December 7, 2024, surrounded by her loving family and dear friend, Eulala Williams. Vickie was born on March 27, 1948, to the late Edward & Margaret Huck, in Beech Grove, Indiana, and lived a life rich with love, laughter, and unwavering commitment to those she held dear.

For 33 years, Vickie dedicated her talents to the Eli Lilly Company, contributing her energy and determination to the Indianapolis and West Lafayette offices. She retired at the young age of 52, achieving a significant milestone through her meticulous planning and tenacity. Throughout her career, Vickie formed lasting friendships that she treasured deeply, and her positivity left a profound impact on countless colleagues and acquaintances.

Vickie was a parishioner of St. Barnabas Catholic Church in Indianapolis for over 16 years, where she volunteered her time as well.

As the youngest of eight children, Vickie was always ready to lend a helping hand to her older siblings and became a source of comfort and strength for her family. Her innate ability to listen and support made her a safe haven for not just her loved ones, but also for strangers who found themselves in need. The tragic loss of her sister, Mary Anna, left five young children needing guidance, and in true Vickie fashion, she embraced them wholeheartedly, becoming a nurturing figure in their lives for years to come. To her nieces and nephews, Vickie was not only an aunt, but also a confidante and companion, building relationships that felt like sisterhood while maintaining the joyful respect of an aunt.

Vickie's spirit shone brightly during family gatherings, where she made it her mission to keep everyone connected. She was protective, always ready to defend and stand by the people she cherished. Her warmth made her the heart and soul of her family, leaving behind a legacy of love that will resonate for generations.

Educated at Sacred Heart High School, Vickie graduated in 1966, embarking on a journey that would be filled with rich experiences, laughter, and personal connections. Her remarkable sense of humor drew people into her orbit, as they delighted in spending time with her. With boundless energy and a zest for life, Vickie would accomplish more in her early mornings than many could in an entire day. She found joy in the simple pleasures—relaxing and watching her beloved Hallmark Movie Channel, or cheering on the Indianapolis Colts, a passion reflected in her long-held season tickets.

In addition to her vast circle of friends, Vickie also touched the lives of her adopted grandchildren, Josie and Sophia Tunitis. When their mother faced challenges after the twins’ birth, Vickie stepped up without hesitation, supporting and loving them throughout their formative years.

Vickie is remembered as a woman of grace and confidence who boldly navigated life with strength and determination. Her presence in this world will surely be missed, and the love she infused into the lives of others will forever remain.

Vickie is survived by her sister; Marcella Miceli and adopted grandchildren; Josie & Sophia Tunitis, Brent, Matthew, Eva, and Gavin Hurrle, along with numerous nieces, nephews,

Vickie is preceded in death by her sisters; Ruthie Holzer, Rosemund Comley, Dorothy Kiser, and Mary Anna Leeds, and brothers; Edward C. Huck and Ronald Huck.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate her remarkable life. Visitation will be held on December 11, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at O’Riley - Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, located at 6107 S East St, Indianapolis, Indiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on December 12, 2024, at 1:00 PM at St. Barnabas Catholic Church, 8300 Rahke Rd., Indianapolis, IN, with interment following at St. Joseph Cemetery, 2446 S Meridian St, Indianapolis, IN.

Although Vickie has departed from this world, the legacy of love, laughter, and friendship that Vickie Huck created will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died. In life we loved you dearly, in death we love you still. In our hearts you hold a special place that no one can ever fill. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn't go alone. For part of us went with you, the day God took you home.
