Vincent W. Maxwell

January 29, 1960 — June 21, 2017

Vincent W. Maxwell, 57, of Indianapolis, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017. Born in Beech Grove on January 29, 1960, Vincent was the son of John J. and Margaret M. (Leonard) Maxwell; both of his parents survive.

Vincent proudly served his country in the United States Army and was discharged in 1983. He won several awards for his service, including the Expert Infantry Badge. A true outdoorsman, he enjoyed bird watching, hiking, spelunking, and camping. Vincent also enjoyed traveling; one of his most memorable trips was to the Grand Canyon earlier this year. He worked in electrical repair for several years, and also as a deckhand on a Mississippi River barge, a baker and an arborist. He also worked part-time for the Veteran’s Administration in Indianapolis.

Vincent appreciated spending time with his family and getting to know and love numerous caregivers who provided him with support including Kelly Buck, Leah Darling, Lisa Morgan and Sandy Pettina. His family will always be grateful for the love and attention they and their colleagues shared with Vincent. In particular, a special thanks is extended to the staffs of the VA ALS Clinic, Kindred Health, and Golden Living.

Besides his parents, survivors include two brothers, John (Cindy) Maxwell of Indianapolis and Tom (Sarah) Maxwell of Indianapolis; four sisters, Margaret (John Krauss) Maxwell of Indianapolis, Jane (Randy) Hughes of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, Mary (Bill Walsh) Maxwell of Indianapolis, and Catherine (Patrick) Bonadurer of LaCrosse, Wisconsin; 10 nieces and nephews and 2 great nephews.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Vincent’s life from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 23, 2017 at the Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 South East Street, Indianapolis. Morning prayers will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the funeral home followed by 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Richard A.
