William “Jack” Mahoney, Jr., 87, Indianapolis, passed away February 14, 2018. Mr. Mahoney was born January 27, 1931, in Indianapolis, to the late William J. Mahoney, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth (Love) Mahoney.
Jack graduated from Arsenal Technical High School and attended Butler University. He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Jack was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and actively involved as a volunteer with Society St. Vincent de Paul. He was employed for 35 years at Equifax, retiring as a claims investigator. Jack was a proud and active Democrat who volunteered as a precinct committeeman. He also enjoyed fishing, sprint car racing, listening to opera and musical theaters, and cheering on the Pacers. Jack looked forward to an occasional trip to the casino. He will be fondly remembered by a loving family and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Gertrude McConahay; a step-son, Michael E. Hendrix.
Survivors include his wife, Generose Mahoney; son, Tim (Rina) Mahoney; daughter, Kathy Patterson; step-children, Thomas (Stefanie) Hendrix, Susan Barnes, and James (Judy) Hendrix; nephew, Mark McConahay; eight grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 12 Noon, Saturday, February 17, 2017, in St. Jude Catholic Church, with visitation there from 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
