Amy Jo Engelhardt

March 24, 1956 ~ February 4, 2021
Amy Jo Engelhardt, 64, Indianapolis, passed away peacefully at home, after a brief battle with brain cancer, February 4, 2021. Amy Jo was born March 24, 1956, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to the late Arthur and Arlene (Szymkowiak) Powers.
She graduated from Holy Angels High School in Milwaukee and continued her education at Concordia University. Hailing from Wisconsin, she was naturally a Packers fan! She worked early on in the 70’s as the secretary to the legendary basketball coach, Al McGuire, and also at The Marcus Corporation. She has been employed as the guidance secretary at Perry Meridian Middle School for more than 20 years most recently. Amy Jo was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and was a former parishioner at St. Barnabas. Her hard work ethic availed her the opportunity to effortlessly juggle her professional career and being an active wife, mom, and grandma. She enjoyed volunteering, working on fundraisers, crafting, and traveling with her sons. Amy Jo will be fondly remembered for her traditional values, always doing the “right” thing, her kindness and selflessness.
Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Thomas J. Engelhardt; sons, Matt, Danny (Michele), and Mike; sister, Janis Klos; three grandchildren, Annabelle, Charlotte, and Jonah.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 9, 2021, 5 to 8 p.m., at the O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East Street, Indianapolis. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m., Wednesday, February 10, 2021, in St. Jude Catholic Church. The Mass will be live streamed by visiting https://www.facebook.com/orileyfuneralhome/. Dear Tom & Family, I am so sorry for your loss. I just found out when addressing a birthday card for Amy and googled your address to make sure I was correct. I’m sure you know we caught up with a four hour conversation in Janurary. We reminisced about our Marcus days, and at the end of our conversation, she thanked me for making her laugh so much. I will cherish that memory and all that I have of her. God Bless all of you…❤ Angela Stathas Curro
