Mickel was a kind and gentle man, always looking out for his kids and grandkids. He would invite me over for dinner on many occasions, serving his special lamb and rice dish. He also made the most outstanding hummus dip, very garlicy and with a potent red pepper bite. I could eat that for every meal of the day. He always asked how I was and showed interest in my life. I was the teacher friend of John and Ang, but he welcomed me as part of the family. He was very brave the last year of his life. I knew he was in pain and having a hard time breathing, but he kept going and stayed strong til the end. I had the privilege of seeing Mike place his trust in Jesus Christ alone to find eternal life. That is what comforts me. I have cried and mourned as I have lost a friend, with that friend being my very good friend John (Ang)’s dad. This is heartbreaking, and I know death waits for all of us. But for Mike, since he had the gift that only the Son of God can offer, he is in Heaven, every tear has been wiped away, he has no pain anymore. I am deeply saddened to lose such a sweet man from my life, but I will join him to see my Lord face to face whenever that time comes. John, Ang, Jacob family: I grieve with you and hope to bless your life as you recall and celebrate the life Mike had and all the memories that come with that.
