Dolores "Del" Heidenreich

June 23, 1929 ~ February 12, 2023
Dolores Ann Heidenreich, 93, of Indianapolis, passed away surrounded by loved ones on February 12, 2023. Born on June 23, 1929, at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove, Del was the oldest of four children born to the late Florence and Robert Hertz. She grew up in Fountain Square, attending St. Patrick Grade School and St. John’s Academy for high school.
Del married her first husband, Bill Lannan, on November 23, 1950, at St. Patrick’s Church. The two spent more than 25 years faithfully raising their 11 children together until Bill’s passing in 1976.
After losing her husband, Del never lost her faith. She felt great responsibility for each ‘each soul God gave her’ and continued raising her family as a single mom. She also re-entered the workforce and spent the next 16 years working for the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, impacting countless lives in the process.
Del married Carl Madden in 1993 and the pair spent 15 years together until his death in 2008.
She was an incredible mother and grandmother who somehow made each child and grandchild feel unconditionally loved and supported. Del spent a lifetime providing guidance, prayers and a steady stream of heartfelt cards to an ever-growing list of loved ones.
At 80, she found love again with Bill Heidenreich. The two spent the remainder of her life together on the Southside of Indianapolis—walking in Garfield Park, attending St. Roch Catholic Church and going on Saturday date nights.
Del was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, who lived a life of faith, love, and service to others. Her greatest legacy was her enduring faith in God that she instilled in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Del is survived by her loving husband; William “Bill” Heidenreich, children; John Lannan, Suzie (Tim) O’Hara, Becky (John) Gorman, Donna (Alan Cattabriga) Lannan, Mary (Steve) Bradley, Teresa (Bob) Boyd, Julie (Bruce) Ford, Kathy (Todd) Erb, Tom (Jodie) Lannan, Tim Lannan, Anna Marie Heidenreich, Joanna (Phil) Nevitt, Mary (John) Davis, William (Sherry) Heidenreich, Amy (Jim) Bova and Paul (Alison) Heidenreich, along with 53 grandchildren and 77 great-grandchildren.
Del is preceded in death by her daughter; Connie Magwood , husbands; William Lannan & Carl Madden, grandsons; Jeff Magwood and Bobby Boyd, great-grandson; Grant Rainey and son; John Heidenreich.
Visitation will be held at O’Riley-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory on Friday, February 17, 2023 from 4:00pm-8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 11:00am at St. Roch Catholic Church. Burial will be immediately following in Calvary Cemetery.

As we mourn her passing, let us honor Del by embracing the words of her favorite psalm, “This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24
I will truly miss Aunt Del. She was the last piece of mom for us. Always so very nurturing and could almost feel her daily prayers. What a welcome she received in heaven. May she rest in peace.
Aunt Del was a wonderful example of a loving woman of God. She did everything for everyone. She was my stand in Mom when I got married. Have fun with Mom in heaven. You are missed.
How i regret that I cannot be with everyone to celebrate the life of this wonderful woman. Del was truly the heart of St. Anthony and of All Saints Catholic school when I was there ‘65 to ‘78. My love and prayers to all her family.
I will miss Aunt Del terribly. While she was my Great Aunt she was still there all the time at family gatherings. She was such a strong and loving woman. I know that she will be up in heaven looking down upon us all as a guardian angel. I love and miss you Aunt Del until we meet again one day.

Our hearts grieve with you at the passing of your sweet momma.
I first met Del in the late 1970’s when I taught Tom and Tim Lannan in my 6th grade classes at St. Barnabas. Throughout the years I would run into Del at the mall walking, at the Catholic Center when I was on business, and later on her date nights with Mr. Madden. Her faith in God sustained her, and her positive outlook was one I try
to emulate. Del was a treasure. I will always remember her with a smile on my heart. She was so proud of her family. God bless all of you.
I am missing my dear Aunt Del so incredibly much! She was my Dad’s beloved sister and my beloved God Mother. We always shared a special connection….and I miss her so incredibly much. She made time to send me cards…cards and sentiments that I will cherish forever. Rest in peace, my dear Aunt Del. You made a tremendous difference and impact in so many lives…and are so loved by so many. I love you.❤️
